Roberto E. Quintal, MD
Clinical Professor of Medicine
Dr. Quintal a member of the Orleans Parish Medical Society has been named President of the Louisiana State Medical Society for 2014.
Born and raised in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. He received his medical degree from the Universidad de Yucatan in 1975.
Before starting his residency, Dr. Quintal enrolled at Tulane University School of Public Health where he received an M.P.H & T.M in June of 1978 and the Dean’s Scholastic Award. He also received a Ph. D. from Tulane in December 1978.
He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology.
Dr. Quintal has served in a number of administrative positions and is currently the Director of the Division of Medicine and Chief of Cardiac and vascular Services at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans which is one of the major teaching hospitals for the Cardiology fellowship program at LSU. He served as President of the Medical Staff at Touro from 2000 to 2001 and as President of the Orleans Parish Medical Society in 2006.
He is a member of the American College of Physicians, The American College of Cardiology, the American College of Chest Physicians the American College of Angiology and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the Louisiana State medical Society and the Orleans Parish Medical Society, as well as, the American Heart Association.
He is an Interventional Cardiologist with a special interest in peripheral vascular disease and mesenteric ischemia. He is active in the catheterization laboratories at Touro Infirmary and the LSU interim Hospital.
